Atlanta – March 12, 2000

Hampton, GA – Fresh off of a solid event in Las Vegas where Gordon qualified 12th, led 8 laps and ran up front, Atlanta was a story in the other direction. Team Gordon brought a brand-new chassis to Atlanta Motor Speedway and struggled with a truck arm that was hitting the underside of the body. The team spent most of the first session Friday trying to sort out the problem and finally did, only to succumb to rain on Saturday which washed hopes of qualifying in the second round.
