Bristol,
TN – In an impressive qualifying performance,
Robby Gordon put his TurtleWax Ford on the starting grid 13th for
the much celebrated Bristol night race. For the first 121 laps,
Gordon hung in that top-15 bracket biding his time. On lap 121,
however, David Green, who was replacing the injured Bill Elliott
in the McDonald’s Ford, slammed Gordon into the turn four wall on
exit front he corner. The two had been racing side by side literally
since the race’s start. Green was below Gordon and on exit simply
moved up and forced Gordon into the barrier ending his race.
Gordon wasn’t
finished though. When Brett Bodine needed to step out of his Ralph’s
#11 car due to exhaustion, Gordon stepped in and replaced him, finishing
the race 28th.
