MAPEI Signs on as Co-Primary Sponsor of Robby Gordon Motorsports

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (June 2, 2006) – MAPEI, the world’s leader in manufacturing flooring adhesives and concrete products for the building industry, has partnered with Robby Gordon Motorsports as a co-primary sponsor of the company’s No. 7 Chevrolets that compete in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series

MAPEI will use the relationship with RGM in an effort to get its branding message to contractors and builders in the construction industry, as well as home owners. Beginning with Sunday’s Neighborhood Excellence 400 at Dover International Speedway, MAPEI will share primary sponsorship space, specifically the hood, on nine Menards-sponsored cars. In addition, MAPEI will be integrated throughout the RGM program with associate space on all other No. 7 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series cars and on all RGM equipment and uniforms.

“We want our end-user customers to be more aware of who we are and what we can do for them in the construction of their homes and buildings,” said Nick Di Tempora, president of MAPEI Americas. There are over 75 million NASCAR fans, and the most common type of employment among NASCAR fans is in the construction industry – our industry. The sport is also avidly followed by Canadian fans and MAPEI is heavily invested in Canada. With a 10-month NASCAR Nextel Cup Series schedule, MAPEI expects to reap the benefits of a year-round promotion cycle.”

Di Tempora added that the teamwork and spirit of achievement exhibited by Robby Gordon Motorsports, NASCAR’s only Nextel Cup Series team owned by an independent owner/driver, reflects the work ethic of the MAPEI Americas family and those characteristics were a major factor in the decision to partner with the team

MAPEI was founded in 1937 in Milan, Italy, by Rodolfo Squinzi, and is today led by the founder’s son, Dr. Giorgio Squinzi in Milan. Under Mr. Squinzi’s leadership, the company developed its first adhesives for ceramic tile in the 1960s. MAPEI gets its name from an acronym created by the founder – Materiali Ausiliari Per l’Edilizia e l’Industria (Auxiliary Materials for Construction and Industry).
