Robby Gordon Quotes on Kansas:

“With eight races remaining in the season, our goals are very simple – create momentum for 2008. Kansas is much like Chicago; it’s a fast, smooth mile and a half track that I really like. I had some strong runs at Kansas in the past and I think we will be competitive this weekend. I’m happy to have Camping World back on the No. 7 and hopefully we can have a good run.”

Camping World Fast Facts:

  • Welcome Back – This weekend’s race at Kansas Speedway marks the third cup race for Camping World on the No. 7, last seen in Bristol under the lights.
  • Sponsor Info Camping World Inc., is America‘s largest direct marketer
and specialty retailer of RV and outdoor camping accessories and services.
Over 8,000 quality products are available through nationwide SuperCenters, a
well-established catalog call center and an award-winning Web site. The
company has grown from a single store in
Bowling Green, KY to more than 75
SuperCenters with more than 500 service bays, in 25 states and plans to
reach the 100 mark by 2008. Jim Beam, Menards and Mapei will all serve as associates.
  • Back to yesterday – At this weekend’s event at Gordon will run chassis No. 104, a car that last raced at Indianapolis. Chassis No. 106 will serve as the back up, raced last at Pocono in August. This weekend marks one of the last races in the “old style” cars before next season’s full year of Car of Tomorrow racing.
  • Follow the Yellow Brick Road– Gordon has been to the 1.5 mile tri-oval five times in Nextel Cup Series recording two top-15 finishes. He also has two Busch Series starts at Kansas Speedway, once in 2001 and again in 2004.
  • Tight Race – Currently in the 26th position in points, Gordon is just one point out of 25th in the owners standings.
  • Calling the Shots Robby Gordon Motorsports officially named Peter Sospenzo as the crew chief for the No. 7 Ford Fusion. Historically with multi-car teams, Sospenzo brings renewed optimism to NASCAR Nextel Cup’s only single car owner/driver combination.
  • Meet the Driver – Robby Gordon will join Paul Menard and Matt Crafton at the St. Joseph Menards Store on Thursday, September 27th from 6-8pm. Gordon will also be at the Kansas Speedfest (at the speedway) on Friday, September 28th signing autographs from 6:30 – 7:45pm followed immediately by at 15 minute Q&A. And on Sunday, you can catch Gordon at the Robby Gordon merchandise trailer on from 9:50 – 10:30 a.m.
