Indianapolis
500 – May 28, 2000
Indianapolis,
IN – Robby Gordon was listed as a favorite
for the 2000 Indy 500 after coming within one lap of winning the
event in 1999. Driving for Team Menard, Gordon matched his qualifying
position from the year before, 4th and on the inside of row two.
At the start, Gordon charged
forward following teammate Greg Ray and running third for most of
the first half of the race. In the second half though, as Juan Montoya
took over the race, Gordon wasn’t able to challenge and had to settle
for a 6th-place finish.
