Michigan – June 11, 2000

Brooklyn, MI – After deciding to run a limited schedule following the Coca-Cola 600, Team Gordon came into Michigan Speedway with a fast car and renewed optimism. Gordon qualified 25th and immediately made noise in Sunday’s race. He charged form 25th into the top-10 in the race’s first 100 laps. As the race wore on, Gordon’s handling began to go away and he slipped backwards to mid-pack. In the waning laps with a top-20 finish in sight Geoff Bodine moved up on Gordon as the two crossed the stripe causing damage to Gordon’s Ford. The resulting pit stop lost a lap for Team Gordon and they finished 28th.

Starting position – 25

Finishing position – 28th (running)

Laps – 193/194
