Robby
Gordon to Open New Off-Road Shop in California
WELCOME, N.C. (April 14, 2003) — For the first
time in several years, No. 31 Cingular Wireless driver Robby Gordon
does not plan to race during the upcoming Easter off-weekend. But
that doesn’t mean he’s not doing something racing-related.
Gordon flew home to California Sunday evening
following the Virginia 500 to begin preparations for the April 26
grand opening of Robby Gordon Off Road. The grand opening, which
is open to the public, is set for 10 a.m-7 p.m., Saturday, April
26, and Gordon is scheduled to arrive that afternoon following Happy
Hour at California Speedway.
Located in Anaheim, Calif., about 35 miles from
California Speedway, Robby Gordon Off Road will showcase Gordon’s
racing memorabilia, NASCAR collectibles, show cars and show trucks,
as well as signature suspension lifts, wheels and tires.
The race shop has served for years as Gordon’s
off-road shop in which he builds his Baja 1000 and other off-road
trucks. The 34-year-old also ran his CART team from the shop in
1999. Gordon grew up in Orange, Calif., about 35 miles from Fontana
(location of California Speedway) and still maintains a residence
there.
"Robby Gordon Off Road is going to be great
for all off-road enthusiasts," Gordon said. "I grew up
in California and did a lot of off-road racing out there and still
have strong ties to the industry. Off-roading is huge on the West
Coast. I’m really looking forward to the store opening because it
will offer customers the off-road experience they are looking for."
Gordon is scheduled to sign autographs at the
grand opening from 4-7 p.m. Additionally, the event will feature
showcars, Gordon’s NASCAR souvenir trailer, raffles for tickets
to Sunday’s Winston Cup race at California Speedway and complimentary
refreshments.
The address of Robby Gordon Off Road is 2980
East Miraloma Ave., Anaheim, CA 92806. Anyone needing further information
can contact 714-632-0166.
