MOORESVILLE,
NC., (June 15, 2001) – If you field a car in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series and you’re looking for
your best chance to win in Sears Point, all you need to do is call Robby Gordon. That’s exactly
what Jim Smith, owner of Ultra Motorsports has done.
Robby will pilot the #7 NationsRent Taurus for Ultra Motorsports when they go to Sears Point Raceway next
weekend for the Dodge/Save Mart 350k.
Jim and the Ultra Motorsports team has been trying to get a handle on their recent ontrack performance. “It’s no secret that our performance hasn’t been where we want it to be, especially over the past few weeks, and everybody at Ultra Motorsports is doing everything they can to get over this hump and figure things out.”
Jim’s solution for Sears Point is to have Robby take over the controls from the team’s regular driver, Mike Wallace, and see if he can give the team some pointers, while at the same time use his incredible road course talent to take the NationsRent Taurus to victory circle.
“We’re grateful to Robby Gordon, who is going to help us out next week at Sears Point, by driving the NationsRent Taurus and giving us an independent evaluation of where we need to concentrate our improvement efforts. Robby’s road course record, and his record at Sears Point, speaks for itself, and we think he can offer a lot to what we are trying to do.”
