2001 – WINSTON CUP – MORGAN-McCLURE MOTORSPORTS

Robby Gordon moves to the Morgan-McClure Motorsports team for the 2001 Winston Cup schedule. Gordon will drive the familiar #4 yellow Kodak Chevrolet.

2000 – WINSTON CUP – TEAM GORDON

After a successful season in 1999 as the only owner/driver in the CART FedEx Championship Series, Robby Gordon, along with owners John Menard and Mike Held, decided to take their act to the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. With sponsorship from Duracell, Menards, Sony, and Turtle Wax, Gordon contested 18 races. Among those, Gordon finished 18th in the Daytona 500 and posted a season-best 4th-place at Watkins Glen.

2000 – INDY RACING LEAGUE – TEAM GORDON

Gordon competed in the 2000 Indy 500, again for Team Menard, driving the Turtle Wax/Burger King Dallara. Gordon qualified 4th for the second straight year. He finished 6th.

2000 – SCORE INTERNATIONAL OFF-ROAD SERIES

2000’s Baja 1000 event was a special milennium version that spanned 2000 miles. The event was aptly renamed the Baja 2000 and it covered the Baja Mexico territory from its top in Ensenada, finishing at its bottom tip in Cabo San Lucas. Robby Gordon and his Ford-powered, CD-2 Trophy Truck led early in the race but fell out 700 miles in due to a bad water pump seal.

1999 – FEDEX CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – TEAM GORDON

Driver of the #22 Johns Manville/Panasonic/Menards Toyota Eagle for Team Gordon, the 30-year-old Californian completed his seventh full season in Champ Car racing and second with Toyota power. Gordon was the only owner/driver in the FedEx Championship Series finishing 20th in the points with 6 top-ten finishes.

1999 INDY RACING LEAGUE – TEAM GORDON

Gordon attempted a rare double in the month of May, running both the Motorola 300 in St. Louis, Saturday, May 29 for CART, and the 83rd Indy 500 the following day in Indianapolis. After a crash in St. Louis early, Gordon came back to lead the Indy 500 for 33 laps at the end of the race, only to run out of fuel and surrender the lead on the last lap. Gordon finished fourth.

1999 – SCORE INTERNATIONAL OFF-ROAD SERIES

Gordon finished 5th in the 1999 Baja 1000 driving his Team Gordon/Turtle Wax Toyota Trophy Truck. The race consisted of two 400 mile loops in the upper-section of Baja Mexico. During the first loop, Gordon was running third when he lost a transmission and had to stop to replace it. He continued on without problems but was unable to make up the lost time on eventual winner Larry Ragland.

1998 – FEDEX CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – ARCIERO-WELLS

Finished 7th after a 24th place start in his debut event at Nazareth, PA for Arciero-Wells Racing. This registered Toyota’s best-ever finish at the time. Achieved top qualifying position for Toyota in 1998, 13th at Milwaukee.

1998 – WINSTON CUP – McCall RACING

Raced only one Winston Cup event at Sears Point for the Caterpillar team. Gordon started 18th and finished 38th after a broken suspension ended his day. Gordon ran third most of the day and led briefly before having to retire the car.

1998 – SCORE INTERNATIONAL OFF-ROAD SERIES

In 1998, Gordon ran only the Baja 1000 event in a truck his Team Gordon outfit built from scratch with sponsorship form Toyota. The Toyota Tundra experienced teething pains with its electronics package, finishing 8th.

1997 – WINSTON CUP – TEAM SABCO

Earned first career NASCAR Winston Cup pole at Atlanta Motor Speedway in just the fourth race of the year. Finished 4th at Watkins Glen after battling from the rear of the field on a restart.

1997 – INDY RACING LEAGUE – TEAM SABCO

Qualified 12th (fourth row) for the Indianapolis 500. Gordon assembled and ran entire team with the financial backing of Team SABCO. Had charged to 2nd when a cockpit fire ended his day on lap 19. Gordon suffered second- and third-degree burns on hands, wrists and right thigh and was sidelined for one month.

1997 – INTERNATIONAL RACE OF CHAMPIONS

Earned a second consecutive second place finish in the point standings in racing’s all-star series. Race results: Eighth at Daytona (started 5th); second at Charlotte (started 12th); second at Fontana (Bobby Labonte filled in after Gordon suffered head injury in NASCAR practice the prior day – started 10th); and 2nd at Michigan (started 11th).

Drove in only one CART race during 1997 season, the finale at Fontana, CA. Gordon finished 7th driving the Hogan Racing Reynard Mercedes.

1997 – SCORE INTERNATIONAL OFF-ROAD SERIES

At his first and only off-road truck event for 1997, he finished 2nd in the legendary Baja 1000 nearly beating winner Larry Ragland after a furious charge to the front in the late stages of the race.

1996 – PPG INDYCAR WORLD SERIES – WALKER RACING

Finished 18th in season points driving in his third full season for Derrick Walker Motorsports with Valvoline/Cummins backing. He scored three top-ten and one top-five finish and achieved five top-ten starts.

1996 – WINSTON CUP – TEAM SABCO

After joining Team SABCO in August, Gordon drove in three late-season events that included the UAW GM Quality 500 at Charlotte (driving a Dale Earnhardt Inc. entry), the AC Delco 400 at Rockingham and the Dura Lube 500 at Phoenix.

Earned first-ever SCORE Series Trophy Truck class championship. Won four of the seven events in this series (entered only six ). First driver ever to win three races in row. Designed and built off-road truck in house from chassis to shocks and everything in-between.

Drove ’95 Reynard-Ford/Cosworth for Walker Racing with backing from the Valvoline Company. Scored first PPG Indy car wins at Phoenix and Detroit. Finished fifth in final PPG Cup points.

1994 – PPG INDYCAR WORLD SERIES – WALKER RACING

Finished fifth in the series with 104 points. Scored first-ever career Indy car pole at Toronto for Walker Racing as well as set the track record. Scored second career pole at Vancouver. Was ranked fourth for the most poles with two. Started in the top-ten in 14 of 16 events with nine top-ten finishes. Started in the top-five eight our of 16 races and had six top-five finishes. Led 59 laps for the season, ranking him seventh in most laps led. Highest finish was second at Vancouver. Also had two third-place finishes at Long Beach and Detroit bringing his podium finishes to three. Was voted “Most Improved Driver” by his racing peers.

1993 – PPG INDYCAR WORLD SERIES – AJ FOYT RACING

First full season driving Indy cars. Finished 10th in PPG Cup standings with 84 points. Opened the season with third-place finish in Lola-Ford/Cosworth for car owner A.J. Foyt in Australia. Best finish was second at Mid-Ohio. Also finished fourth at Nazareth, Pa., and fifth at Loudon, N.H., as well as sixth at Cleveland and Toronto. Was running second on final lap at Detroit before finishing eighth after a flat tire.

Drove for Robert Yates Racing at the July Talladega DieHard 500. Ran in top-five but was later involved in an accident. Started 14th, finished 42nd.

First year in Indy cars. Participated in seven events in a Lola-Ford/Cosworth for Ganassi Racing. Ended season 20th in PPG Cup point standings with 10 points. Finished eighth at Toronto and Cleveland street circuit races. Became the only rookie to lead a lap during the season after leading one circuit in Cleveland. Also started races in Detroit (17th), Portland (13th), Milwaukee (21st), Elkhart Lake, Wis., (18th) and Vancouver (17th).

Scored third-straight IMSA GTO class win (now GTS) in the 24 Hours of Daytona for Roush Racing. Started from pole, led all 48 laps and crossed the finish line first in the IMSA GTO race in Del Mar, Calif.

First season of professional automobile racing. Joined Jack Roush and competed in the GTO series. Captured GTO class win in the 24 Hours of Daytona driving a Mercury Cougar. Crossed the finish line first in four IMSA events (Del Mar, Calif., Lime Rock, Conn., New Jersey Meadowlands and Sebring, Fla.). Finished 2nd in GTO Season Championship.

Started from the pole in his first-ever career stock car (ARCA) superspeedway event at the Atlanta Motor Speedway for car owner Junie Donlavey. Led the race but later spun on oil ending his run.

Teamed with father to win four off-road events. 1st SCORE/HDRA Championship. 1985 off-road – OFF-ROAD Sharing driving duties with Frank Arciero, Gordon won the Nevada Frontier 500, the first off-road race he ever entered. Finished ahead of second-place father and veteran off-road racer Bob Gordon. Scored victory in first-ever Mickey Thompson stadium series event ever entered.
