Rockingham,
NC – Robby Gordon’s first practice almost ended in disaster at Rockingham
as he went too hot into the first corner on his first lap and nearly
lost control of the car. But he regained composure and came up with
a fantastic qualifying run that put him in the field safely in 25th
position. Early in the race, Gordon was caught up in a spin by Kenny
Irwin which somehow jarred the power-steering pulley loose. He was
forced to race without power-steering much of the event until yellows
allowed for a change to be made. Gordon finished 38th.
