Rockingham – October 22, 2000

Rockingham, NC – Gordon’s repeat visit to Rockingham in 2000 proved frustrating from a qualifying standpoint. He took a provisional spot, starting 41st. His car had little grip as was evidenced by his fishtailing on exit from turns two and four. Through the first two pitstops the team tried to rectify the loose condition but little helped. Gordon fought the car for 154 laps before hitting the wall as the car left turn two onto the back straight. He ended up 41st.
