Sears
Point – June 25, 2000
Sonoma,
CA – The first of two road courses for
Gordon, Sears Point is a track Gordon had been looking forward to
since he comes from a road-racing background. Gordon was the fastest
car in practice Friday, slipping slightly during qualifying to post
the 11th-quickest time. In Sunday’s race Gordon challenged in the
top-five all day in his CD2 Ford Taurus. In the latter stages of
the race while running 5th, Gordon felt a bobble in the fuel pressure
and pit with 15 laps remaining. With fresh tires and no concerns
about fuel he was able to gain 15 spots and finish 9th, the team’s
first top-10 finish of the year.
