Gordon Sets Unofficial Track Record
in Glen Testing
July 29th, 2003
In preparation for the Sirius at the Glen, team Cingular turned
an unofficial record at the Glen. The lap of 122.858 was better
than the 2001 qualifying lap record of 122.698 turned by Dale Jarrett.
The session left Gordon optimistic about sweeping
the road course events. "We spent 3/4 of the time in race trim
and the rest of the time working on our equalizing setup. Our Sonoma
setup did not take so we had to search around and I think we found
something."
The testing session continues today and then
Gordon heads to Indianapolis for the Brickyard were he feels they
will be competitive. "We qualified fourth last year and had
a real good test here earlier in the month. The car worked extremely
well through the turns so everybody on the Cingular team is pumped
up for the next couple of weeks"
The Sirius at the Glen is on August 10th at 1
p.m. EST on NBC
